Electric bikes open up cycling for people of all ages and abilities, and the case of Chris Nolte is a great one.
An Iraq war veteran, Chris had a painful back injury which stopped him from riding, but when he discovered electric bikes, the tremendous motor assistance allowed him to get back on a bike.
Inspired, Chris founded Brooklyn-based Propel Bikes. He started his business by putting together a kit himself (we’re talking many years ago), and selling bikes online.
Last year, Chris opened his big new Brooklyn brick-and-mortar store, where he enjoys finding the right e-bike for customers wanting one for commuting, fun, or simply to get back on two wheels again.
Here's a short video about Chris.
